The Science of Pedophilia

Hey everyone,
Sickboy is back with a fresh bout of controversy. This week, we sat down with Dr. James Cantor. Dr. Cantor is a Clinical Psychologist and his credentials include a degree in Psychology from Boston University, PhD from McGill University, Associate Professor on the University of Toronto's Faculty of Medicine, Editor-in-Chief of Sexual Abuse: A Journal of Research and Treatment, and Senior Scientist at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.
Dr. Cantor is the foremost living expert on the psychology of pedophilia. Our conversation challenged everything I've ever known about what it means to be a pedophile. It tore down judgements and misconceptions that I've had and that I am certain the public at large also shares. It allowed me to take a step back and relearn everything about this subject in a non-judgemental way, without malice or contempt, and separate from the tragedies that have no doubt occurred throughout the history of human-kind as a result of biological circumstances that bring about the sexual preference defined as Pedophilia.

What comes to mind when you hear the word "Pedophile"? For me, it was words like "evil", "hurtful", "Deceitful". I use the word "was" because those are the words that I used to associate with the word "pedophile". But as it as with most things, we don't have all the facts when we make up our mind about how we feel. This is a difficult subject to look at objectively. It is very hard to speak calmly and compassionately about something that all of society condemns with fierce determination. But, we must. Through a compassionate discussion on the subject, I learned more about it in an hour than I had in my entire life's experience.
We applaud Dr. Cantor for his courageous work. For wading into dangerous waters where intolerance and hate reign supreme. For challenging common thought and dedicating himself to truth and fact. Listen in this week, and before you do, take a seat. Take a deep breath. Breathe in compassion, breathe out understanding. Feel those emotions fully and completely. Then press play.
